okay so i've just finished watching love and other disasters and i think it might just be one of my fave movies ever ! romantic comedy (naturally) ♥ ;] it's not make-you-melt-omg-cheese but it's charming and cute with a touch of quirkiness :P the lead, jacks played by brittany murphy, is like a modern day holly golightly which is a plus. throughout the show, there are a couple (two i think) of scenes where you can see jacks and her gay best friend, peter watching breakfast at tiffany's (also her fave movie) :O
there are some really cute quotes too like, Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: In love! You know, dizzy and feverish and nausea. Peter Simon: That's not love, Jacks. That's the flu. (can be seen in the trailer)
so jacks is an assistant at british vogue. she cares alot for her friends (you know, the type that hears out everyone else's problems) and enjoys playing matchmaker, especially for her gay best friend-slash-roommate who's constantly fantasizing about love in his head.
when she meets paolo at a vogue photoshoot where he's the photographer's assistant from argentina, she concludes that he's gay and the perfect match for peter. as it turns out though, paolo isn't gay. no kidding. he likes jacks, who by the way is totally oblivious. surprise, surprise. there's a whole series of misunderstandings, mainly centralizing around the fact that paolo keeps on failing to tell jacks the truth (while she does stuff like parade around in her underwear and talk to him while taking a bath).

when he finally does tell her the truth (just as they're about to get married, reason being so that he won't get deported for working there illegally), she's upset.. yada yada yada. but then she realizes that she doesn't hate him after all (thanks to her gay best friend who further proves my theory that gay guys are awesome) and so she rushes to the airport (and you're probably thinking, 'OMGGGG CLICHE ENDING AHEAD!', where the girl arrives just in time to stop the guy from boarding the plane by professing her love for him.. but no), only to find out that his plane had an early departure (ummm anti-climax much?).
Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: An early departure? What are the chances of that? If this was a movie, there wouldn't be an early departure. Peter Simon: If this was a movie, you'd be blonde. Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: If this was a movie, you'd be famous. Peter Simon: That's the problem with life. It's nothing like movies.
but anyway, she ends up flying to argentina to find him :]
annnd, peter who's supppose to be some sort of a writer writes a screenplay based off their lives. in the end, you can even see orlando bloom playing paolo and gwyneth paltrow playing jacks inside the "film".
so yea, basically the story involves a series of misunderstandings and finding love in the most unexpected places ♥ ^_____^
it's all really just very cute
fairy tale romances and the likes i'd rather not get my hopes up :) but still...
can't help waiting for that one in bajillion :)
