Sooo worth the read!! I doubted it when i first saw the book a couple of years back because i didn't like the dead husband bit but... the whole "list" thing is sooo "awww" worthy
The gist of it: Holly and Gerry, no one could possibly imagine one without the other. Then, he died. Holly was devastated. After two months of grieving and not leaving her house, daydreaming about the past, she is brought back to reality by a certain envelope her mother claims to have in her house, called "The List". Instantly, Holly remembers how she, Gerry, John and Sharon used to talk about it. It turns out that there was one envelope for each month for the rest of the year. Gerry meant for her to open each envelope at the start of each month. Inside contained guidance and various things to do such as buying a new bedside lamp, clearing out his old things, participating in a karaoke contest which involved overcoming a fear, going on a holiday and getting a new job. It's like he's helping her move on with life. At the end of each letter, there are the words "P.S: I Love You", hence the title. With the help of her quirky family and friends. Holly gradually learns to make new memories while cherishing the old. In the final letter, Gerry asks her to open her heart to new opportunities and fall in love again. *sniff*
